Winter Storm Gianna Forces Closures, Cancellations and Delays

HAMPTON ROADS — Hampton Roads residents are preparing for a second round of snow this weekend as Winter Storm Gianna is expected to impact the area. Due to the storm, many local events and businesses have announced amended schedules.

  • Hampton Roads Transit will suspend service at 3 p.m. on Jan. 31. The company also announced there will be no service on Feb. 1.
  • Busch Gardens Williamsburg will be closed Jan. 30-Feb. 1.
  • The Grammy Events sponsored by Art Riche and the Virginia Hip Hop Foundation on Sunday, Feb. 1 have been amended. The afternoon art pop-up has been canceled, while the Grammy watch party in the evening is now being held virtually.
  • Norfolk International Airport and Richmond International Airport are reminding passengers to check with their airlines prior to arriving at the airport. Multiple flights are expected to be impacted by this weekend’s weather.
  • William & Mary will be closing at 5 p.m. Saturday until 9 a.m. Sunday. Event schedule changes can be found online.
  • Virginia Peninsula Community College, including the Historic Triangle campus, will be closed Saturday and Sunday. The college will operate remotely on Monday, Feb. 2.
  • Jamestown Settlement and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown will open at noon on Sunday.
