
NEWPORT NEWS — Christopher Newport University recently announced Rebecca Bromley-Trujillo will receive the Outstanding Faculty Award from the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia.
The university noted the award is the highest honor for faculty at the commonwealth’s public and private colleges and universities and recognizes superior accomplishments in teaching, research and public service.
Bromley-Trujillo is an associate professor in the Department of Political Science and serves as research director of the Wason Center for Civic Leadership, where she conducts election and policy surveys, hosts community events, and works with students. Bromley-Trujillo’s research and teaching interests include American political behavior, environmental policy, and state politics. She is also the current editor of the “Annual Review for Publius: The Journal of Federalism.”
The awards have recognized faculty at Virginia’s institutions of higher learning since 1987, CNU said, adding over the past three years, SCHEV has selected several of its faculty members for the Outstanding Faculty Award:
- 2023 Kelly Cartwright and Margarita Marinova
- 2024 Tarek Abdel-Fattah and John Finn
- 2026 Rebecca Bromley-Trujillo
The 12 recipients selected by SCHEV for the 2026 Outstanding Faculty Awards will receive the award at an in-person ceremony on March 3 in Richmond.
