WILLIAMSBURG — Cook’s Burger Bar, now serving the Williamsburg community at two locations, has launched a new partnership with Williamsburg-James City County Schools to support local educators through its Classics for Classrooms initiative.
Each month, Cook’s Burger Bar will donate 25 cents from every in-house sale of the “Cook’s Classic” burger to a nominated public school teacher within the WJCC system. Contributions are intended to purchase classroom supplies, fund projects and support resources that enhance the student learning experience.
Community members are invited to nominate a public school teacher by the 20th of each month at cooksburger.com/classics-for-classrooms. Two teachers, one for each Cook’s location, will be selected and announced before the end of each month.
“Food is a great way to connect with people, but we aim to make an impact beyond the plate,” said Andrew Voss, Co-Founder of Against the Grain Restaurants. “Classics for Classrooms is an engaging, tangible way to invest in the people shaping the future — our teachers. We’re honored to support them with the help of our community and WJCC Schools.”
What began as a grassroots idea from the team at Cook’s is already laying the foundation for something larger. While the initiative is currently focused on Williamsburg, ATG hopes to expand Classics for Classrooms into future communities as the Cook’s brand grows, creating meaningful connections between local schools and neighborhood restaurants.
“I am tremendously grateful to Cook’s Burger Bar and the generous members of our community who will patronize the restaurants in support of our educators,” said WJCC Schools Superintendent Daniel Keever.
Cook’s currently has two Williamsburg locations — at Midtown Row and at The Gallery Shops in Lightfoot. For the latest, follow along on Instagram and Facebook @cooksburger and on cooksburger.com.
