YORK COUNTY — Victor Shandor, Superintendent of the York County School Division, announced changes to school leadership ahead of the 2025-26 academic year Friday.
All appointments take effect July 1.
Principal Appointments
- Anthony Friedman, current Tabb Middle School assistant principal, has been promoted to Bethel Manor Elementary School principal. Friedman began his career with YCSD as an assistant principal at Tabb Elementary before moving to his current role at Tabb Middle School.
- Meagan Gavin, current Yorktown Elementary School assistant principal, will take over as Yorktown Elementary School principal. She was previously the assistant principal at Dare Elementary before her current role at Yorktown Elementary.
- Aaron McQuillan, current Bruton High School principal, will transition to the role of principal at York High School.
- Amour Mickel, principal of Tabb Middle School since 2022, will transition to the role of principal at Yorktown Middle School.
Principal Resignation
- Khrista Brownlee, current Waller Mill Elementary School principal, has resigned to take another position in a different local school division.
Assistant Principal Appointments
- Tara Firth, current Grafton High School assistant principal, will transition to an assistant principal role at York High School.
- Courtney Smith-Copeland, current York High School assistant principal, will transition to an assistant principal role at Grafton High School.
- Ranae Montecalvo, current Yorktown Middle School assistant principal, will transition to a role at Waller Mill Elementary School.
- Justin Workman, a former Tabb Middle School assessment and compliance coordinator and a current assistant principal for Williamsburg-James City County Schools, will be an assistant principal at Tabb Middle School.
Shandor noted that the search for administrators to fill vacancies will begin immediately.
