VIRGINIA BEACH — Amid the threat of tariffs, the national average for a gallon of gas ticked up two cents from last week to $3.13, according to AAA.
Meanwhile, the national average per kilowatt hour of electricity at a public EV charging station stayed the same at 34 cents, AAA reported.
According to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gasoline demand increased from 8.30 million barrels per day last week to 8.32 million. The total domestic gasoline supply rose from 248.9 million barrels to 251.1 million, while gasoline production decreased last week, averaging 9.2 million barrels per day.
Thursday’s national average for a gallon of gas was $3.13, seven cents more than a month ago and one cent less than a year ago.
Locally, the gas price average for the commonwealth Thursday was $3.06 — the same as a week ago and 12 cents higher than a month ago. In Hampton Roads, prices decreased three cents to $2.96, which is 19 cents higher than a month ago and ten cents lower than a year ago.
