NEWPORT NEWS — Christopher Newport University sophomore Jason Ofcarcik was honored Monday by the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference. The 6-6 forward was selected the Player of the Week in the C2C, marking the third straight week the Captains have received the honor.
Ofcarcik, who transferred to CNU from Nichols College, recorded his first double-double as a Captain last Wednesday in Christopher Newport’s 85-66 victory at Johns Hopkins University. Ofcarcik scored a career-high 21 points and also pulled down 11 rebounds as John Krikorian‘s squad won its fifth straight game to improve to 14-3 on the year. He made nine of 12 shots, and scored 14 of his 21 in the second half as the Captains held off the Blue Jays.
In 13 games played this season, the Hampden, Massachusetts, native has averaged 7.9 points and 5.6 rebounds per contest. He joins teammate Jahn Hines, who has won the award three times, as Player of the Week honorees this season.
Christopher Newport, ranked 12th in the country last week, returns to action on Wednesday night at Randolph-Macon College. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. at Crenshaw Gymnasium in Ashland, Va.
