Fire Causes Extensive Damage to James City County Home

JAMES CITY COUNTY — No one was injured after a fire caused extensive damage to a home in the 8400 block of Westberry Court in the Wellington subdivision in James City County Friday afternoon.

According to officials, units from the James City County Fire Department and James City – Bruton Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene on Dec. 20 at 3:20 p.m. after occupants had called 911 reporting a fire in the home and safely exited.

Units arrived at 3:28 p.m. to find a significant fire in the front of the home that had already extended to the upper floors and roof of the structure, the county said. The fire was brought under control at approximately 4 p.m., after causing extensive fire damage to all three floors of the home.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the James City County Fire Marshal’s Office.

The York County Department of Fire and Life Safety assisted.
