NEWPORT NEWS — Two members of the Christopher Newport University football team were named All-Region on Wednesday by D3football.com. Fifth-year senior Amaan Miller was voted first team All-Region, and sophomore Noah Martin was selected to the third team.
Both Miller and Martin were previously honored as first team All-Conference members in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. Martin was also honored as the Defensive Back of the Year last week by the Touchdown Club of Richmond.
Miller, an offensive lineman from Newport News, concluded his career this fall by starting all ten games for the Captains. He led an offensive line that produced 30 rushing touchdowns and averaged 181 yards per game on the ground. Miller becomes the ninth CNU football standout to be a first team All-Region selection from D3football.com, and the first since defensive lineman Ben James in 2019.
Martin, a defensive back from Spotsylvania, Va., led the Captains in tackles with 85 and passes broken up with 12. He also made four interceptions and recovered a fumble.
Miller and Martin helped lead the Captains to a 7-3 record this fall, and a 5-1 mark in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.
NCAA Division III realigned Division III football into six regions in 2021. Christopher Newport is in Region 2, which includes the Centennial Conference, Empire 8, Landmark Conference, Liberty League, New Jersey Athletic Conference and Presidents’ Athletic Conference.
