HISTORIC TRIANGLE — Veterans Day is Monday, Nov. 11. Here is how the federal holiday impacts local offices and services.
James City County
According to James City County, offices, facilities, services, libraries and courts will observe the following schedule for Veterans Day:
County Offices:
Closed Nov. 11.
James City County Recreation Center and Abram Frink Jr. Community Center:
Open Nov. 11.
Parks:
All County parks are open year-round.
Park Stores and Guest Services Offices:
Open Nov. 11.
Jolly Pond Road and Toano Convenience Centers:
Open Nov. 11.
Tewning Road Convenience Center:
Closed on Mondays.
Garbage Transfer Station:
Open Nov. 11.
Curbside Recycling:
No change.
Libraries:
Closed Nov. 11.
Courts:
Closed Nov. 11.
Williamsburg
The City of Williamsburg will observe Veterans Day on Monday, Nov. 11. All City offices will be closed. This includes the Municipal Building on Lafayette Street, Quarterpath Recreation Center, and the Williamsburg-James City County Courthouse on Monticello Avenue.
Waller Mill Park will follow normal operating hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The city said garbage and recycling will be collected on their regular schedules Monday and Tuesday. For water emergencies after hours, weekends, and holidays, residents should call 757-220-2331. More information can be found at williamsburgva.gov/publicworks.
The City Council Work Session will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12 in the Stryker Center. The city said the regular meeting is not affected by the holiday and will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14 in the Stryker Center.
Those who need to pay a city bill when offices are closed are encouraged to use the 24-hour bill payment drop box located at the front of the Municipal Building, 401 Lafayette St., for city transactions. Payments can also be made online. The city cautioned that drop box payments made on Monday, Nov. 11 will not be posted until Tuesday, Nov. 12.
York County
York County noted the following offices will be closed Monday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day:
- County offices
- Courts
- Libraries
- Waste Management Center Offices
- York-Poquoson Social Services
Garbage and recycling collections are not affected by the holiday, the county said. The VPPSA Composting Facility and drop-off centers for garbage and recycling are open. The Transfer Station remains closed for repairs. Citizens needing assistance are reminded to submit requests via the Customer Service Request Portal — yorkcounty.gov/requests.
