WILLIAMSBURG — The Ford’s Colony Dance Band will perform its fourth annual Salute to the End of World War II on Nov. 8 as part of the Williamsburg Regional Library’s Dewey Decibel Concert Series.
The Ford’s Colony Dance Band is a big band sponsored by the Ford’s Colony Homeowners Association.
The band will once again create Benny Goodman’s weekly Saturday night radio program broadcast “Let’s Dance.” The concert will include updates by war correspondents from the battlefield spanning 1939 to 1945.
Each update will be followed by an all-new selection of songs from the era, including Glenn Miller’s “Chattanooga Choo Choo,” Tommy Dorsey’s “I’m Getting Sentimental Over You,” Les Brown’s “I’ve Got My Love to Keep Me Warm,” Frank Sinatra’s “Let’s Get Away From It All” and the Andrews Sisters’ big hit, “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” featuring Ford’s Colony’s own female trio.
The concert will be from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in the Williamsburg Regional Library Theater at 515 Scotland St. Admission is free, but donations are accepted.
