Former WJCC Schools JV Cheer Coach Charged with Solicitation of a Minor

JAMES CITY COUNTY — A 44-year-old James City County woman who at one time had served as a JV Cheer Coach for WJCC Schools was arrested Oct. 17 and charged with soliciting a minor.

According to the James City County Police Department, it received a report on Aug. 13 regarding a female adult allegedly engaging in explicit communications with a 14-year-old male. The case was assigned to the Criminal Investigations Unit for further examination.

After an investigation spanning several weeks, including forensic analysis of cellular devices and records, as well as interviews with all involved parties, Sarah Deaver, a 44-year-old resident of James City County, was charged with two felony counts of Using Communications to Solicit a Minor and arrested.

Deaver was transported to the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail and released on a $5,000 secured bond on Oct. 18, police said.

According to WJCC Schools, Deaver received a stipend as a JV Cheer Coach from Sept. 1 to Nov. 30, 2022. At this stage in the investigation, police said no criminal activity is believed to have occurred on any Williamsburg-James City County School property.
