YORKTOWN — The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office announced Saturday that two men had been charged for an Oct. 5 incident at the Riverwalk Landing parking garage in Yorktown.
According to the sheriff’s office, on Oct. 5 at approximately 1:30 a.m., a deputy was on patrol on the waterfront in Yorktown conducting a check of the parking garage when he heard vehicles on the top deck involved in “burnouts.” The deputy proceeded to the upper deck and found two vehicles driving recklessly on the parking deck and observed black tire marks on the pavement that had been left by the suspect’s vehicles.
One of the vehicle owners was issued a summons that night for reckless driving and the second vehicle owner was released, pending further investigation, according to officials.
The sheriff’s office said after reviewing surveillance camera video and obtaining an estimate of more than $1,000 for the damage that had been done to the surface of the parking garage, the deputy obtained warrants and charged both 21-year-old Nathaniel Kevin Hartzog, of Yorktown, and 19-year old Gavin Alexander Roberts, also of Yorktown, with Felony Destruction of Property Reckless Driving – Misdemeanor.
