York County Announces Street Closures, Trolley Route Schedule for Yorktown Day

The popular Yorktown Day Parade, which will kick off at 10:30 a.m. on October 19 along Main Street in Yorktown, returns this year to feature 35 parade units and representatives of all branches of the U.S. military, fife and drum corps, and patriotic organizations. York County Tourism photo.

YORKTOWN — York County has announced street closures and a modified trolley route and schedule for the Yorktown Day celebrations in Yorktown on Saturday.

Vehicular access to the following streets will be restricted to residents and their guests on Oct. 19, from 8 a.m. to noon:

  • Zweybrucken Road (closed to vehicular traffic until 12:30 p.m.)
  • Bacon Street (closed to vehicular traffic until 12:30 p.m.)
  • Smith Street
  • Nelson Street
  • Read Street
  • Church Street
  • Main Street

The Yorktown Trolley will deviate from its normal route to accommodate the patriotic exercises commemorating the anniversary of the Revolutionary War victory at Yorktown, the county said. The trolley will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. following this schedule:

  • 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. — National Park Service Visitor Center to the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown via Ballard Street to Water Street and return via Water Street and Ballard Street

  • 1 to 5 p.m. — (returns to normal route) National Park Service Visitor Center to the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown via Zweybrucken Road, Comte de Grasse Street, and Water Street and return via Water Street and Ballard Street

The county encourages visitors to follow the trolley’s route on the ETA app on their Android phone or iPhone.

All public parking areas in historic Yorktown will be open to the public with the exception of the parking area between Church Street and Read Street, and the parking behind the County Administration Center, 224 Ballard St., from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. due to parade activities.
