NORTHBROOK, Ill. — Having made a tremendous impact on and off the field, William & Mary All-America left tackle Charles Grant was selected as a nominee for the 2024 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team.
Grant is among a distinguished group of 178 nominees who will be considered for one of college football’s premier honors that recognizes excellence on the field, in the classroom and in the community.
The Good Works Team will be announced in September and will feature 22 student-athletes – 11 (FBS), 11 (FCS, DII, DIII, NAIA) – and one head coach. All members are selected by a voting panel of former Allstate AFCA Good Works Team members, current and former head coaches and journalists.
A consensus All-America selection in 2023, Grant enters his fourth season as a starter and is one of the NFL’s top prospects at the offensive line position.
The two-time first-team All-CAA selection ranked as the conference’s top tackle in pass blocking efficiency last season and allowed just one sack on 334 pass blocking snaps. Additionally, he finished the fall grading out at 92 percent with 40 pancakes en route to helping W&M rank 13th national in rushing (196.9).
His impressive junior campaign followed his breakout sophomore season in which he did not allow any sacks in 13 starts and helped W&M rank third nationally in rushing (265.8) and fourth in fewest sacks allowed per game (0.77).
In addition to his exceptional play on the field, he was honored as a finalist for the 2023 Wells Fargo Advisors Humanitarian Award by the Touchdown Club of Richmond and currently serves as a team captain.
Grant partnered with NMDP (formerly Be The Match) and donated live-saving bone marrow in 2023, while he also helped the organization register other potential donors.
His impact in the community extends to service with various local schools where he volunteered as a classroom reader, at field day and spoke about college readiness.
A CAA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll honoree, Grant earned his undergraduate degree in psychology last spring.
W&M will kick off the 2024 season when it hosts VMI at Zable Stadium on Aug. 29. Season tickets are now on sale and can be purchased at TribeAthletics.com.
