Lionsbridge Clinches Third Straight Chesapeake Division Title with 5-1 Victory Over Virginia Marauders

NEWPORT NEWS — Lionsbridge FC secured the Chesapeake Division title for the third consecutive year with a commanding 5-1 win over the Virginia Marauders on Saturday.

Sam Hall opened the scoring for Lionsbridge with a penalty kick in the 14th minute. Matthew Kirk doubled the lead ten minutes later, assisted by Isaiah Chisolm. An own goal by the Marauders in the 39th minute gave Lionsbridge a 3-0 advantage going into halftime.

The Marauders managed to get on the scoreboard in the 75th minute with a goal by Chance Hollins. However, Lionsbridge quickly regained their three-goal lead with a strike from Coleman Jennings, assisted by Christian Hatley, in the 87th minute. Denis Krioutchenkov sealed the victory with a penalty kick in the 89th minute.

Lionsbridge dominated the match, outshooting the Marauders 23-2, with 12 shots in the first half and 11 in the second half.

Lionsbridge FC is one of just three teams in USL to win its division every year since 2022. The team will host the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals and Semifinals at TowneBank Stadium on Friday, July 19, and Sunday, July 21. The first semifinal on Friday will begin at 4:30 p.m., with Lionsbridge FC playing at 7:30 p.m. The USL is expected to release the bracket on Sunday or Monday.
