YORK COUNTY — Four people have been arrested for an attempted home invasion in the 100 block of Douglas Drive in the Carver Gardens neighborhood of York County Tuesday.

According to the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office (YPSO), deputies were dispatched at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 30 to a report of an armed home invasion in progress. The caller reported that four males, one armed with an assault rifle, were attempting to forcibly enter the residence. The caller also stated that there were small children in the house.

Sheriff’s deputies were in the vicinity and upon arrival, the victim told them that the suspects had fled on foot and provided a description of the vehicle that had brought them to the house. The victim also stated that he knew the four suspects, according to YPSO.

Sheriff’s deputies quickly located the vehicle with the four suspects inside, and they were taken into custody. The assault rifle described by the victim was not located in the vehicle, YPSO said. Deputy Sheriff Ashley Octaviano and her K9 partner, Ghost, responded to the scene, and in a short time, located an AR-15 rifle that was fully loaded and YPSO said was discarded by the suspects when they fled from the victim’s house.

All four suspects, three adults, and one juvenile, are currently incarcerated on charges stemming from this crime, and one of the adults was also found to be wanted in Montgomery County, Maryland, and Stafford County, YOSO said.

Charged are 18-year-old Emanuel E. Davies of Stafford, 19-year-old Caden A. Jones of Hampton and 20-year-old Shynerria E. Walker of Newport News. A 17-year-old from Newport News was also charged. All face multiple charges.

The adults are being held at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail, and the juvenile is being held at the Merrimac Detention Center, YPSO said.
