WILLIAMSBURG — Four current and recently graduated members of the William & Mary men’s gymnastics team will compete at the 2023 Core Hydration Classic at Now Arena on Aug. 4-6 in Hoffman Estates, Ill.
Representing the Tribe at the national event, which will feature multiple Olympians and world medalists, will be recent graduates Christian Marsh and Aidan Cuy, as well as rising senior Sam Lee and incoming freshman Gavin Zborowski.
The Classic will showcase the U.S. Men’s Senior National Team athletes and will determine the remaining qualifiers for the 2023 U.S. Championships, which will be held later in August where the national team will be selected. In addition to members of the national team, highlighting those competing at the Classic are 2021 Olympians Yul Moldauer and Shane Wiskus, as well as 2022 NCAA All-Around Champion Paul Juda.
Zborowski will compete in the first session on Sunday, Aug. 6 at 10:45 a.m., while Marsh (pommel horse, rings, parallel bars), Cuy (rings, vault, parallel bars) and Lee (vault, parallel bars and high bar) will compete in the second session at 4:45 p.m.
The top 10 senior athletes on each event (with all pre-qualified senior athletes to U.S. Championships removed) will receive points from the final rankings in the senior competition at the Classic. No points are awarded for all-around results.
The podium training sessions on Thursday and both competition sessions on Sunday will be streamed on the USA Gymnastics YouTube page.
