UPDATE — The woman who was found deceased on the side of Old Williamsburg Road has been identified as 25-year-old Tyosha Tanique Mitchell of Richmond.
YORK COUNTY — The body of a deceased woman was found on the side of Old Williamsburg Road in the early morning hours of May 6.
Investigators from the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office (YPSO) positively identified the 25-year-old woman as of 2:16 p.m., YPSO announced on its Facebook page. YPSO believes that the woman was forcibly taken from Richmond in the early hours of Saturday morning and died at the scene as a result of multiple gunshot wounds.
Investigators were in the City of Richmond working with the Richmond Police Department to locate and notify her next of kin and to interview potential witnesses, according to YPSO.
YPSO asks anyone who may have witnessed or heard anything in the area of Old Williamsburg Road between Daniels Drive and the Colonial Parkway between 3–4 a.m. Saturday morning to call 911, the Tip Line at 757-890-4999, 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or use the P3 Tips App.
YPSO said it does not believe that there is an immediate threat to the community.
