A longtime local favorite, the Holiday Fur Trees offer a meaningful way to honor cherished pets, remember beloved companions, and celebrate the pet lovers who make our community special. Each dedication helps support the lifesaving programs of The Heritage Humane Society, making every tribute of a Fur Tree bow a gift that gives back to one of the most vulnerable homeless pet populations in Greater Williamsburg.
Deck the Holiday Fur Trees with Love
Participating in the Holiday Fur Tree tradition is simple, heartfelt, and supports pets who need it most.
Choose from two festive bow options:
- Small bows – $15 each
- Large bows – $30 each
Each bow can be personalized with up to three names for honoring past or present pets, surprising an animal-loving friend, or even spotlighting an adoptable animal who is still waiting for a forever home.
How to Order This Year’s Holiday Fur Trees Bows
There are multiple options to make ordering bow dedications easy based on someone’s preference. Options include:
- Order online through the Holiday Fur Tree page on the Heritage Humane Society website.
- Submit a completed Fur Tree Form in person, by mail to 430 Waller Mill Road or by email to donate@heritagehumane.org.
Become a Fur Tree Sponsor
Businesses and organizations can help spread even more holiday cheer by becoming Holiday Fur Tree sponsors. Each sponsorship includes:
- 10 large customizable bows
- Linkable logo on HeritageHumane.org
- A special visit from an adoptable shelter dog
- Recognition on the Heritage Humane Society website, Facebook page and sponsor signage
- Fur Tree sponsor sign for the business or organization to display
The business/organization sponsorship form is available online, including instructions for easily purchasing online, in person, or via email. Sponsorship is a festive way for companies to show community support while championing local animal welfare.
Holiday Magic Sparkles at The Heritage Humane Society This Year
For the second year, the annual Fur Trees will shine brightly in front of The Heritage Humane Society. Nestled in the memorial brick garden, the trees will be draped in sparkling holiday lights, making for an enchanting display of dedicated bows.
The Fur Trees will be unveiled on Nov. 29 and will remain lit through the New Year, offering the community a beautiful spot to visit, reflect and celebrate.
A Tradition Rooted in Community Generosity
The Holiday Fur Tree tradition is made possible thanks to the kindness of local partners:
- Homestead Garden Center donates the stately trees
- Williamsburg Floral & Paradise Plants provides the beautiful bows
The HHS Auxiliary lovingly hand-inscribes each dedication, ensuring every tribute is meaningful and personal. Their support helps bring this treasured holiday event to life year after year.
More Ways to Celebrate the Holidays with Heritage Humane Society
There are even more festive ways to get involved and support local animals this season:
- 25th Annual Holiday Bazaar. Held this Saturday, Nov. 22, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Bruton Parish Hall in Colonial Williamsburg’s Merchants Square, this Hallmark-movie scene invites the community to shop for handcrafted items, holiday gifts, baked goods, jewelry, pick up their pre-ordered soups from the annual Soup Sale, purchase shelter retail items including its exclusive Neuter Nuts line in collaboration with the Virginia Diner while also entering raffles.
- Visit the Williamsburg Christmas Market — Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 13 and 14. HHS Auxiliary volunteers will be selling holiday goodies, including the beloved Neuter Nuts, created in partnership with Virginia Diner. It’s a perfect stop for holiday shopping and supporting the shelter.
- Shop the ReTAIL Store. Located inside The Heritage Humane Society’s Adoption Center, the ReTAIL Store features pet gear and supplies, treats and food, shelter merchandise, gifts for pet lovers including a line of odor-eliminating candles and the ever-popular Neuter Nuts collection.
Every purchase directly benefits shelter pets.
