Meet Scott Coelln, Managing Member
- How long have you owned your business?
- One year
- How did you get started in your business/ industry?
- I started working in the food and beverage industry in NJ as a teenager and continued pursuing a career in the hospitality industry by obtaining a college degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management. Upon graduation, I began working for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation as a restaurant manager at Chownings and Kings Arms Taverns and progressed to Banquet Coordinator for the hotel properties and then as a Conference Express Manager for several years and then landed in my final capacity as the Director of National Accounts for the mid-west. Upon departure from CWF, I was part of the grand opening team at Billsburg Brewery where I managed the facility and coordinated the food truck scheduling. Concurrently, my wife Kate, my son Sam and I formed a partnership and planned and executed the grand opening of The Hungry Pug LLC and we began a full-time commitment to the Company in April 2018.
- What is a common misconception about your business?
- That it’s easy, with short hours. If you’re not on the truck, you’re in business development mode and preparing food.
- What makes you different from the other businesses in this area? Why should a customer pick you?
- Our unique menu, specializing in cheese-based, gourmet sandwiches, complemented with appetizers, including our famous beer cheese. Additionally, giving back to the community is in our DNA – we plan and/or participate in fundraising events at least quarterly, with a special focus on the Heritage Humane Society and Alzheimer’s Association.n
- What is the most rewarding thing you get out of what you do?
- Happy customers, giving back to the community and enjoying the benefits of being an entrepreneur, especially being my own boss!
