YORK COUNTY — Coastal Virginia Magazine recently recognized 14 Historic Yorktown and 94 York County attractions and businesses with a 2025 Best of Award.
According to York County Public Affairs, several businesses won multiple awards, with winning entries spanning 112 categories ranging from Best Weekend Getaway and Best History Museum to Best Home Builder and Best Financial Planning Company.
Write-in nominations were accepted in late 2024 in 154 categories in arts and entertainment, food and drink, health and beauty, home and garden, news and media personalities, professional services, shopping, travel and leisure, and wine and spirits. Voting was open to the public in early 2025, the county said.
Krist Olsen-Hayes, director of York County Economic and Tourism Development, expressed enthusiasm about the County’s achievements.
“We are incredibly honored that over 100 Historic Yorktown and York County attractions and businesses have been recognized with a 2025 Best of Coastal Virginia Award. These wins are a testament to the passion, excellence, and community spirit that make our region such an extraordinary place to live, work, and visit,” she said.
In Yorktown, the following businesses received recognition:
- American Revolution Museum at Yorktown — Best History Museum, Best Family Friendly Attraction/Activity, and Best Local Attraction
- Carrot Tree Kitchens — Best Bakery
- Coastal Thirst Beach Deli — Best Food Truck
- Gangsta Dog — Best Pet Store
- The Gallery at York Hall — Best Art Gallery
- Historic Yorktown — Best Weekend Getaway
- Patriot Tours & Provisions — Best Local Outdoor Recreational Store
- Water Street Grille — Best Outdoor/Patio Dining
- Yorktown Beach — Best Place to Picnic and Best Beach
- Yorktown Bookshop — Best Independent Book Store
- Yorktown Freight Shed — Best Banquets/Events Hall
- Yorktown Market Days — Best Farmers Market
- Yorktown Pub — Best Casual/Family Dining, Best Nightlife, and Best Sports Bar
- Yorktown Trolley — Best Transportation Service
