WILLIAMSBURG — The Board of Directors of Williamsburg Landing announced it recently named Jan Bigelow as the organization’s new President & Chief Executive Officer, effective in January.
Bigelow will succeed current President & CEO Greg Storer, who will be retiring at the end of the year. Storer has led the organization since 2016.
Bigelow’s selection came after an extensive nationwide search involving well over 100 applicants, according to Williamsburg Landing, and has over 30 years of experience.
Williamsburg Landing cited strengths in strategic planning, governance, and board relations, team member retention and development, and community engagement as factors in its decision.
“In Jan Bigelow we have found the ideal candidate who brings a wealth of experience in leading communities like Williamsburg Landing, in healthcare, in managing construction projects, in developing innovative programs and in outreach to the surrounding area. We are delighted that she will be building on the Landing’s strengths and leading us forward in all of those areas,” said Jeanne Zeidler, Chair of Williamsburg Landing’s Board of Directors.
Bigelow most recently served as the Chief Executive Officer of Kendal at Lexington, a not-for-profit Life Plan Community located in Rockbridge County. Bigelow’s campus was awarded the LeadingAge VA 2023 Workplace Excellence Award.
Earlier career appointments include Executive Director roles with senior living systems in Florida and Pennsylvania and prior positions in marketing and finance.
Bigelow holds a Master of Science in Public Administration with a concentration in Health Care Administration.
“I am excited about this opportunity and I look forward to meet the residents and staff and to get fully engaged in the vibrant Williamsburg community,” said Bigelow.
Zeidler said she looks forward to a smooth transition as Greg Storer retires at the end of December.
“On behalf of the Board,” she noted, “I want to thank Greg for his extraordinary leadership. He has strengthened our programs, led us in exciting new directions, and positioned the Landing for even greater success.”
