WILLIAMSBURG — The Prescription Shoppe in Williamsburg has been open for five years, during which Dr. Jade Ranger, pharmacist and co-owner, has been hard at work to become an integral part of the community.

“We believe in treating our patients like family. Our team strives to develop true relationships with them in order to improve their overall health and well-being,” Ranger says.

The full-service pharmacy offers compounding services, medication therapy management, patient education material, private pharmacist consultations, vaccinations, CBD oil, specialty drugs, and more.

Above all, Ranger is focused on making her customers feel like family.

“Our customer service is our claim to fame. We try our best to go above and beyond for everyone that walks through our doors. We send cards out to families when someone passes or there’s a new baby. It’s the little things we do that leave a lasting impression on our patrons,” Ranger said.

When opening the pharmacy five years ago, Ranger was adamant that the team at the shop would be focused on patient care.

“We wanted to bring back true patient care. The big box corporate pharmacies have lost that approach and we felt like we could restore it,” she says.

Being part of the Williamsburg community is special to Ranger and something she takes immense pride in.

“There is such a rich history here. We take pride in knowing that the first documented Africans arrived here and that they sacrificed so much to allow for us to be able to do what we’re doing. Opening the first Black-owned pharmacy in Williamsburg is definitely a full circle moment for us,” Ranger said.

The pharmacy also offers prescription delivery services and has a wide variety of medical equipment and supplies.

Ranger feels that she has truly created a relaxing environment in her store.

“We make it feel like home. As soon as you walk in, you smell the diffuser letting off aromatherapy and you’re greeted with a warm welcome and smile,” Ranger said.

The Prescription Shoppe is open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The store is closed on Sunday. The store is located at 5223 Monticello Ave.
