TOANO — Jamestown Feed & Seed, a locally owned lawn and garden store on Richmond Road, announced that it will be closing its doors after forty years in business.
According to a message on the store’s website, its owner attributes the decision to, among other reasons, the changing economy.
“Competition from the big box stores, the shift to online shopping and endless shipping and product availability issues have helped fuel this decision,” the statement says. “As the owner, I am also well past retirement age. So all of us here have decided it is time to close this chapter of our lives.”
The store will remain open until Dec. 31. Beginning Dec. 1, all in-store items will be priced at 30 percent off. All items in the store’s warehouse will be discounted by ten percent, excluding deliveries.
