HISTORIC TRIANGLE — Here is how local offices and services are impacted by the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.
James City County
According to James City County, offices, facilities, services, libraries and courts will observe the following schedule for the holidays:
County Offices:
Closed Dec. 23-26 and Jan. 2.
James City County Recreation Center and Abram Frink Jr. Community Center:
Closed Dec. 24 and 25.
Closing at 6 p.m. Dec. 31 and closed Jan. 1.
Parks:
All County parks are open year-round.
Park Stores and Guest Services Offices:
Chickahominy Riverfront Park, Little Creek Reservoir Park, James City County Marina and Freedom Park office/stores are closed Dec. 24-25 and Jan. 1.
Tewning Road, Jolly Pond Road and Toano Convenience Centers:
Closing at noon, Dec. 24.
Closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.
Garbage Transfer Station:
Closing at noon, Dec. 24.
Closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.
Curbside Recycling:
No change to current schedule.
Libraries:
Closed Dec. 23-26 and Jan.1-2.
Courts:
Closed Dec. 23-26 and Dec. 30-Jan. 2.
City of Williamsburg
City of Williamsburg offices will be closed Friday, Dec. 23 and Monday, Dec. 26, as well as Friday, Dec. 30 and Monday, Jan. 2, the city said, including all offices in the Municipal Building on Lafayette Street.
Quarterpath Recreation Center will be closed Friday, Dec. 23 through Monday, Dec. 26, as well as Friday, Dec. 30 through Monday, Jan. 2. Waller Mill Park will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day.
Garbage collection and curbside leaf collection will be delayed by one day during the weeks of Dec. 26 and Jan. 2. Collections during those weeks will begin on Tuesday, Dec. 27 and Tuesday, Jan. 3. Recycling collection will not be affected. Residents may sign up for free reminders with ReCollect at williamsburgva.gov/garbage.
For water emergencies after hours, weekends, and holidays, the city asks residents to call 757-220-2331. More information can be found at williamsburgva.gov/publicworks.
Those needing to pay a city bill when offices are closed are reminded they can use the 24-hour bill payment dropbox located at the front of the Municipal Building, 401 Lafayette St., for city transactions, and payments can also be made online.
The city cautioned dropbox payments made on Friday, Dec. 23 or Monday, Dec. 26 will not be posted until Tuesday, Dec. 27, and dropbox payments made on Friday, Dec. 30 or Monday, Jan. 2 will not be posted until Tuesday, Jan. 3.
York County
York County said offices, York-Poquoson Social Services, and Waste Management Center Administrative Offices are closed Dec. 23, 26 and 30; and Jan. 2
York County Public Libraries
- Tabb Library closed Dec. 23-26, 30 and Jan. 1 and 2. The Tabb Library will be open Dec. 31 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Grafton Annex closed Dec. 23-26, 30 and 31; and Jan. 1 and 2
York-Poquoson Courts
- Circuit Court is closed Dec. 23, 26, and 30; and Jan. 2
- General District Court is closed Dec. 23 and 26; and Jan. 2
- Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court is closing at noon on Dec. 22, closed all day Dec. 23 and 26; and Jan. 2
York/Poquoson Cooperative Extension is closed Dec. 23-28 and 31; and Jan. 2.
The VPPSA Compost Facility is closing at noon on Saturday, December 24. Waste Management Operations are closed Mondays, Dec. 26 and Jan. 2.
The county said curbside garbage will not be collected on Mondays, Dec. 26 and Jan. 2. Collections will be delayed one day until all routes are serviced by Saturday (Dec. 31 and Jan. 7, respectively). Recycling pickup is not affected.
