WCAC Holds Fall Members’ Co-op Show Preview Reception

The Williamsburg Contemporary Art Center had a full house for its members’ preview reception on Aug. 9 for the opening of its Fall Members’ Co-op Show. The show features the work of 11 local artists and includes paintings in a range of mediums and styles, fiber and wearable art, carved wooden utensils, and more. Running concurrently are other exhibits; Camera to Brush and Beyond, and the Artisan Corner. The show runs through Sept. 23.

James City County: Natural and Cultural Assets Mapping Committee Meeting Scheduled for Aug. 16

The Natural and Cultural Assets Mapping Committee will meet Tuesday, Aug. 16 at 1 p.m. to discuss and refine the implementation strategies for the Natural and Cultural Assets Plan. This will include recommendations, timeframes and responsible agencies or partners. The Committee will also review the survey results and public input from the June 29 Open House. Upper County Park Pool Hours Adjusted

Due to staffing shortages, pool operating hours at Upper County Park in Toano, have been reduced for the remainder of the summer, according to James City County. This is to ensure the pool is staffed to appropriate levels required to maintain the safety of patrons. The revised hours take effect Aug. 15. Upper County Park pool passholders can use the Chickahominy Riverfront Park pool, which continues to operate daily. The full schedule of operating hours and fees are available online. The outdoor pools close for the season on Labor Day, Sept. 5.
