Young techies have a new place to gather in Williamsburg thanks to Gizmoes, a local electronics store.

Gizmoes will offer teen tech workshops at the Williamsburg and James City County libraries this month, according to a Williamsburg Regional Library news release.

The interactive technology sessions will give teens the chance to work on soldering and circuit boards as well coding skills using Arduino, a software platform for interactive projects.

“We have had Gizmoes bring their maker experience to the library once before,” Rachel Nelson, a young adult services librarian, said. “We’re hoping to give more teens the opportunity to challenge themselves with these hands-on STEM projects at each location.”

The hour-long teen tech lab will take place from 2-4 p.m. Jan. 13 at the Williamsburg Regional Library, located at  515 Scotland St.

The lab will also be held from 2-4 p.m. Jan. 27 at the James City County Library, located at 7770 Croaker Road.

These sessions are for teens from ages 11-18. A liability form must be signed by a parent or guardian for teens to participate. Forms will be provided on-site at the event.

Registration is required to participate. Teens can register by calling 757-259-4050. For more information visit the Williamsburg Regional Library online.
