Four people sustained smoke inhalation and minor burns after escaping a house fire Saturday evening in the Raintree subdivision in James City County, a fire official said.

Firefighters responded to the blaze on Indian Summer Lane and found the occupants had already escaped the home prior to their arrival at 6:24 p.m., according to Fire Chief Ryan Ashe, James City County Fire Department.

Four people were transported with smoke inhalation and minor burns, Ashe said.
