Police arrest a 26- year-old former Pizza Hut employee accused of embezzling $439 over a four-week period using discount coupons, according to a York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office criminal complaint.

Carlton Christopher Hale, of Williamsburg, who worked at the pizza chain in York County at Mclaw’s Circle, was taken into custody April 21, a York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman said.  He is charged with embezzlement over $200.

Police believe sometime between Feb. 17 and March 20, Hale while working as manager would use a $5 coupon “off various orders and take the $5 and pocket it in his [ pocket] without permission, ” according statements in the compliant.

Hale later admitted to taking the money fraudulently, police said.

Currently, Hale is out on bail and expected to appear in York County District Court on June 26.
