Firefighters in York County battled a structural fire early Saturday evening on Jethro Lane in the Dare section, an official said.

No one was at home at the time and no injuries to civilians or firefighters have been reported, according release from Fire Chief Stephen P. Kopczynski.

Just prior to 5:00 p.m. fire crews responded to a call of a ‘structure fire,’ in the 300 block of Jethro Lane, in the Dare area of York County.

Upon arrival, first responders found “heavy fire conditions” at the home.  Most of the fire was contained to the second floor and attic, but damage was throughout the home, according to the release.

Fire crews remain on scene to extinguish “hot spots” and have been conducting salvage and overhaul operations.

Newport News Fire Department provided assistance.

The fire remains under investigation.
