Authorities seek to learn the whereabouts of a James City County man wanted for sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl during a March 2012 visit to a mutual friends’ home in Lanexa, police said.
Larry Earl Batts, 53, whose last known address was 55 Centerville Rd, has several outstanding warrants since 2008. They include contributing to the delinquency of a minor and aggravated sexual battery, according to a James City County police most wanted list.
No additional information on the victim or her mother was available, according to James City County spokeswoman Stephanie Williams.
Police believe on March 3, 2012 Batts was at the residence of a male acquaintance living in the Lanexa area, near the New Kent County border, at the same time the 6-year-old and her mother were visiting the acquaintance.
Sometime on the same evening Batts came in contact with the child and performed sex acts on her while she slept in a bed within the home, police said.
The child later reported the encounter to her mother, who alerted police on March 4, 2012.
Batts has been known to stay at various locations in throughout the county on Centerville Road, Diascund Road, Brady Drive, and Brian Street.
He also has ties to Berryville, Va., which is just east of Winchester near the West Virginia line.
Police are asking anyone with information that could help police locate Batts to please call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
Callers may remain anonymous, do not have to testify in court and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 if the information leads to an arrest.
