Update 11:52: Emergency repairs are a part of the I-64 widening project and are expected continue through the late afternoon.
Motorists can expect major delays thorough Thursday as crews are making emergency road repairs on I-64 East near Colonial Parkway (before Exit 242) in York County, according to a Virginia Department of Transportation release.
The repairs, including a pothole and other pavement, are a part of the second segment in the I-64 widening project, a VDOT spokeswoman said.
The emergency repairs are taking place in the outside lane and are expected to last into the late afternoon.
The east right lane and right shoulder are closed. Motorists are urged to consider an alternate route during the day.
