Two teenagers have been arrested after allegedly robbing a 16-year-old at gunpoint when he tried to buy marijuana from them.
Two James City County males, 18-year-old Toriano A. Davis Jr. and a 17-year-old, are accused of taking a 16-year-old’s backpack, cell phone, sneakers and headphones on Jan. 12 during an attempted drug deal near the 7-Eleven convenience store at the intersection of Olde Towne and Longhill roads, James City County Police spokeswoman Stephanie Williams said.
Both Davis and the 17-year-old are charged with robbery, conspire to rob and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, Williams said.
A call from the victim’s parents came in to James City County Police at 8:29 p.m. Jan. 12, reporting their son had been robbed about 20 minutes earlier at the 7-Eleven at the corner of Olde Towne and Longhill roads.
The victim, who lives in James City County, admitted to his parents he rode to the 7-Eleven on a bike to buy marijuana, Williams said.
The boy rode his bike near the convenience store, where he was supposed to meet two other teens at the back of the building, and was approached by two other individuals, Williams said.
Davis and the 17-year-old allegedly displayed a handgun and took the 16-year-old’s belongings, including his sneakers, backpack, cell phone and headphones, police said.
Police believe the incident occurred in a “brush area” near the store.
The two accused teens then left the area, although it is unclear whether they left on foot or in a vehicle.
Police arrested the 17-year-old Jan. 18, then Davis turned himself in at the James City County Law Enforcement Center Jan. 20.
The 17-year-old was taken into custody and transported to the Merrimac Juvenile Detention Center in Williamsburg. Davis was arrested and taken to the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail, also in Williamsburg.
