Police: Hampton Inn robbed at gunpoint

The Williamsburg Police Department is searching for a man they say robbed the Hampton Inn at gunpoint Sunday night.

According to Maj. Greg Riley, police responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Hampton Inn, located at 911 Capitol Landing Road, at around 6:50 p.m. Sunday.   

Upon arrival, Riley said witnesses reported that a tall, thin black male dressed in jeans, a dark colored jacket, a dark colored baseball cap, and a dark colored bandana which covered his face, walked into the hotel and displayed a firearm to the clerk and demanded money.

According to Riley, the suspect made off with an undetermined amount of cash from the clerk and fled from the hotel on foot in an unknown direction.

No one was reported injured during the robbery. The incident is currently under investigation.
