Child Development Resources will host its 37th annual Bid ‘n Buy auction Sunday to raise money for its programs that help families with disadvantaged children throughout the Historic Triangle.
The auction, which will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. at Jamestown High School, features $130,000 of items including jewelry, electronics, art, toys and vacations. There is also a red 2014 Ford Focus with a leather interior that will be raffled off.
CDR Executive Director Paul Scott said the items in the auction will be placed online for the week before the auction starts to receive online bids. That part of the auction started yesterday and can be found here.
“We know some people can’t attend the event, so this way they can participate and bid and help us raise more money,” he said.
Other items in the auction include airfare for four to Boston for a Yankees-Red Sox game in Fenway Park, an afternoon airborne in a mock fighter plane, a bathroom remodeling and a one-week vacation in a two-bedroom, two-bathroom condo in Kissimmee, Fla. and a $500 gift card that can be used for tickets to nearby Disney World.
“We’ve got something for everybody,” Scott said.
The auction will feature music from Take 757, a jazz band composed of local high school students.
Bidding will take place via electronic devices. Attendees may either use their own device — more information about the auction and how to do that is available here — or use a device available at the auction.
Scott said last year’s auction grossed $165,000, a figure he hopes to top this year.
There is no pre-registration required for the auction, and it is open to the public.
