Color draws local Williamsburg art enthusiast Kathy Hornsby to a scene like nothing else.
In all of her travels, from Africa to Asia to parts of the U.S., her camera lens gravitates toward vivid hues to capture people, places and cultures that stand out to her.
The rendering of her travels will be displayed in 24 photographs at Prince George Art & Frame in February and March.
The exhibit, titled “Seeking Color: Recent Photographs by Kathy Hornsby,” is a collection of Hornsby’s favorite photographs from her recent travels. The show will run from Friday to March 21, with an opening reception Friday from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Hornsby, longtime arts advocate and wife of Grammy award-winning Williamsburg musician Bruce Hornsby, said she is fortunate to be able to travel to countries like Cuba, China, Mali and other places for the purpose of photographing beautiful spaces and people.

“So much of travel for me has to do with the culture and the people,” she said, explaining she often goes on “photographic tours” to capture a widespread range of moments.
“Wherever I am, color attracts me,” she said in a Prince George Art & Frame news release announcing the gallery’s opening. “It jolts, yet soothes. It surprises, yet feels familiar. It overloads, yet restores. It vibrates, yet stills.”
Hornsby is currently planning her 2015 trips, which include several weeks in Namibia in southwest Africa and a few weeks in northwestern India.
This is the first time Hornsby will have her work displayed at Prince George Art & Frame, located at 1303 Jamestown Road.
