The Historic Rivers Chapter of the Virginia Master Naturalists is giving local children a chance to have an immersive nature experience this summer.
The group is accepting applications for two scholarships for sessions at Nature Camp in Vesuvius. Spots are open for students who will have finished fifth through 12th grade in June.
The Nancy Norton Nature Camp scholarships are for students who have an interest in learning about nature through the camp’s academic approach, using daily classes and written assignments. Campers will also participate in hands-on education in natural history and the environment through outdoor activities.
The 2015 camp dates are:
- First session: June 21 to July 4 for grades nine through 12
- Second session: July 5 to 18 for grades eight and nine
- Third session: July 19 through Aug. 1 for grades six through eight
- Fourth session: Aug. 2 through 15 for grades five and six
