Local New Year’s Eve Events to Feature Live Music, Dancing

As the Historic Triangle readies itself to welcome 2014, many local restaurants and hotels are hosting celebrations for the evening ranging from kid-friendly to black-tie.

Masquerade Ball

masquerade ballThe Williamsburg Winery is hosting a masquerade ball on New Year’s Eve, starting at 9:30 p.m. In Wessex Hall, it will include live music by 504 Supreme, dancing and champagne.

Tickets are $50 per person, or $40 for Wine Club members. Spots are limited and tickets must be purchased in advance.

Williamsburg Inn

The Regency Room’s chefs and staff will present the New Year’s Eve Gala, starting at 8 p.m. There will be a seven-course Gala menu, paired with live music, wine and a champagne toast to conclude the evening.

Reservations must be made in advance, and tickets are $210 each.

Restaurants Hosting Live Music

Oceans & Ale’s New Year’s Eve event features live tunes by the Jesse Chong Band. Music starts at 10 p.m.

Group Therapy will perform at Daddyo’s Tavern at 9 p.m. that day. The restaurant is also offering a dinner package with a champagne toast at midnight.

In Merchants Square, the Trellis Restaurant will showcase The Hark. The first of three sets starts at 8:30 p.m., and at 10 p.m. the band will play straight through to the New Year. Dinner reservations can be made until 10 p.m. for the New Year’s Eve menu at $43 per person.

First Night Williamsburg

The annual, family-friendly tradition returns for its 22nd year, featuring live music, children’s activities and fireworks. Headlining the event this year are “The Voice” finalist Bria Kelly and acoustic musician Ronny Cox.

Children’s events start at 3 p.m., with evening programming at 7 p.m., throughout downtown Williamsburg and the campus of the College of William & Mary. Fireworks go off at 7 p.m. and at midnight.

DoubleTree by Hilton

The Smith-Wade Band will play the New Year’s Eve celebration at DoubleTree by Hilton Williamsburg, playing top 40 rock-and-roll dance tunes. Starting at 9 p.m., the event also includes a cash bar, midnight champagne toast and dancing until 1 a.m.

Tickets to the night’s festivities are $25 each by calling 259-5603, or $30 at the door.

Overnight accommodations are available as well, with late check-out. Including tickets to the New Year’s Eve event, the pack is $149 per couple, plus tax, which includes full buffet breakfast for two in the hotel’s Harvest Grille. Book the room package at 220-2500.

Kingsmill

Kingsmill Resort will host a 1920s-themed, black tie-optional evening. Tickets include a three-course dinner, midnight champagne toast, dessert bar and live music by Soul Expressions.

The package, which starts at $499 per couple, includes an overnight stay in a suite, late checkout and breakfast in Elements 1010.
