This week, a man is accused of trying to rob a 7-Eleven clerk and a 14-year-old boy is accused of threatening a boy on Instagram.

JCC Police Arrest One for Counterfeit Checks
A James City County business owner claims a former employee was making counterfeit paychecks after his employment had ended.
The former employee, 35-year-old Steven M. Altepeter of James City County, was arrested Dec. 19 after an investigation revealed he and another former employee allegedly sent copies of valid payroll checks to a third party, Stephanie Williams with the James City County Police Department said.
Police received the complaint from the employer Oct. 10. A $473 check was cashed at McLean’s Grocery a few days earlier, a police report states.
Altepeter was charged with felony counts of forgery, uttering and obtaining money by false pretenses.
Williams said the investigation is ongoing.
Police: Man Attempts to Rob Jamestown Road 7-Eleven Clerk
A man is suspected of attempting to rob a James City County convenience store at gunpoint, authorities say.
The suspect, described as a dark-skinned black male, is believed to have entered the 7-Eleven at the intersection of Sandy Bay and Jamestown roads at around 11:45 p.m. Dec. 19, police said.
The man, who was wearing a hoodie and bandanna, allegedly pointed a gun while approaching the clerk and demanded cash.
Police said the clerk, who was the only other person in the store at the time, ran into a freezer, and the armed suspect fled without taking any cash or items.

Police: Woman Charged With Larceny, Breaking-and-Entering After Stealing Video Games
A 29-year-old woman is accused of stealing video games and accessories valued at more than $200 from a man she knows, police said.
After going into a Game Stop and seeing several of his video games and accessories for sale, a man reported to police Rebecca Ann Lee, a James City County resident, had entered his home and stolen several items.
Police say Lee then sold the items at Game Stop.
When confronted, Lee admitted she did not have permission to be in the man’s residence, Williams said.
Lee was arrested Dec. 21 and charged with grand larceny, breaking-and-entering, larceny with intent to sell and obtaining money by false pretense.
Teenager Accused of Threatening 12-Year-Old on Instagram
The mother of a 12-year-old James City County boy told police Dec. 15 her son was being threatened on Instagram, authorities said.
A 14-year-old boy, whose name cannot be released due to his age, is accused of threatening to kill or do bodily harm after allegedly posting threats on the popular social media photo app that targeted the 12-year-old boy, a police report states.
The mother told police one of threats, made Dec. 14, indicated the 14-year-old was going to “shoot” her son, Deputy Chief Steve Rubino with the James City County Police Department said.
Rubino did not know whether the threats were made on the boy’s Instagram account, on photos posted or in the comments.
James City County Police have requested a judge charge the teenager with threats to do bodily harm.
Man Charged After German Shepherd Bites Woman in Groin
A woman walking her dog on Stonehouse Road near York River State Park was bitten by a dog while trying to protect her own, authorities said.
The 52-year-old woman was walking her dog with her husband Dec. 18 when the couple came across Malcom McMeer Ralsten, who was walking a German shepherd and a golden retriever, Rubino said.
The German shepherd began barking and lunging at the woman’s dog and eventually broke free from Ralsten, a police report indicates.
The woman stepped in front of her dog to protect it, and the German shepherd allegedly bit her in the groin area, Rubino said.
She was taken to the hospital and treated for the dog bite, and Ralsten received a summons Tuesday for having a dangerous or vicious dog.
