Williamsburg Christian Academy students are working to brighten the holidays for local seniors and spread cheer long into the new year.
The school’s upper elementary chapel children created 140 Christmas cards for the residents and caregivers at healthcare provider Envoy of Williamsburg.
The partnership started when Michelle Flanagan, head of elementary and preschool, heard Envoy was one of the least-visited care centers in the area.
She chose it as the service project for the elementary school to focus on as part of the institution’s mission of serving the community.
In addition to the cards, which were delivered Wednesday, students will start making monthly visits to Envoy this spring, in an effort to build lasting relationships.
Different grades will take trips, bringing crafts, reading poems, singing songs and visiting with residents.
