Spring might be sprung, with the sound of music filling the air. There are chances to hear a wide range of music, or do some shopping at the first Williamsburg Farmers Market of the season.

Live Tunes
City Arts Café presents a night of Irish folk music, starting at 7 p.m. Friday at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church. So’ach, a local acoustic duo, will perform at the free event. Other guest artists include Clare Turner, photographer, and Nicola Lins, painter and crafter.
Spring is the season for high school musicals, many of which are opening this weekend. “Annie” at Williamsburg Christian Academy and “Sweet Charity” Jamestown High will both debut, while “Cabaret” at Hampton Roads Academy continues for a second weekend. The Williamsburg Choral Guild presents “French Impressions” this weekend, accompanied by Rebecca Davy on the organ. The program, part of the group’s 38th season, includes Durufle’s “Requiem” and Vierne’s “Messe Solonnelle.” Concerts are 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 4 p.m. Sunday, with a pre-concert lecture begins one hour before each performance.
Catch more live music at 8 p.m. Saturday. Absolute Acoustic will perform at Cogan’s in New Town.
Group Learning
The DoubleTree by Hilton will host “Discover The Joy 2014: A Gathering For Women of Faith” this weekend. Starting at 7:30 p.m. Friday, the conference will include workshops, worship and a silent auction. Sonja Burpo will be the keynote speaker, discussing her book “Heaven Is For Real.”
On Saturday, “RENEW Women’s Health & Wellness Expo” will focus on the products and services that are of particular interest to women. The event at the Ft. Magruder Hotel & Conference Center will have informative exhibits, food demos, screenings, presentations and shopping. Admission to the expo is free, but donations will be accepted to benefit Avalon.
Tribe Athletics
The women’s gymnastics team at the College of William & Mary will compete against Cornell, Saturday at Kaplan Arena. The event starts at 4 p.m., and admission is free.
Tribe men’s gymnastics takes on Temple and Army on Sunday. Head to Kaplan Arena at 1 p.m. for another free event.
This and That
The Williamsburg Farmers Market opens for the spring this Saturday, starting at 8:30 a.m. The market features baked goods, meats, cheeses, jams and more. Susan Greenbaum will perform from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Visit Colonial Eye Care in New Town now through the end of May to see the artwork of Toano painter Bob Carlson. Fifteen pieces by Carlson are on exhibit, as part of a rotating display of local artists at the office.
