Hometown: Williamsburg Landing Announces New Employees

williamsburg landingA local senior living community has added two members to its staff and a new nurse practitioner in its medical clinic.

Williamsburg Landing was established in 1985, and offers a full continuum of care through independent residential living. The group of cluster homes, townhomes and apartments is an accredited Continuing Care Retirement Community.

Tina Thomas joins the facility as a Dementia Services Educator. She holds certifications in gerontology, addictions, pastoral care and nursing home administration.

Thomas has served as Director of Bereavement & Spiritual Care Services and Hospice Administrator for At Home Care Hospice in Richmond. She was also an administrator of ResCare Home Care in Richmond and Norfolk.

A Michigan native, Thomas has lived in Virginia since 2010.

J. B. Smith

J. B. Smith has resided in Hampton Roads since 1988, and has 17 years of experience in security and law enforcement. He will serve as Safety and Risk Manager.

Smith holds degrees in architectural drafting and psychology, and has worked as a certified law enforcement instructor, criminal justice instructor and hostage negotiator for more than 10 years. He advanced to the rank of master police officer with the Newport News Police Pepartment, and most recently oversaw safety operations with a security and surveillance technology company in Hampton Roads.

Brooke L. Davis, RN, ANP-BC, GNP-BC, has been a Nurse Practitioner, Internal Medicine-Geriatrics, for the Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems. She also received her M.S. in Nursing from VCU.

In addition, Davis has served as Nurse Practitioner, Gerontology & Geriatric Medicine, Wake Forest University Health Systems, where she provided assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of acute problems and chronic disease management.

Williamsburg Landing also recently hosted and sponsored an informational breakfast for the Historic Triangle Leadership Programs of the Greater Williamsburg Chamber & Tourism Alliance.

Nearly 40 prospective candidates for the LEAD Class of 2015 attended, in addition to LEAD alumni. LEAD seeks to increase community involvement and leadership skills through education, networking and outreach. Learn about the program here.
