Go dig through the attic or the storage unit and find that old instrument, because you’re going to need it.
Centerstage Academy in York County will participate in Return to Music Day on Oct. 19. For $5, adults can receive a music lesson at the academy. Proceeds will go to “Musicians On Call,” a nonprofit that performs live music for hospital patients at their bedside.
“Everyday parents walk through our doors, bringing their children to music lessons. I can’t tell you how many times they mention their own experiences, both good and bad, with music lessons as a child,” Centerstage Academy Director Rebecca Lowe said in a news release announcing the lessons. “We want to help adults return to music and let them know that music instruction has changed…for the better!”
According to the release, instruction ranges in everything from piano to violin.
“If you played an instrument as a child but no longer do so, ask yourself why?” Lowe said in the release. “This is an opportunity to rekindle something that you may have once loved, or if your experiences weren’t so positive, it’s a chance to see how music instruction has evolved.”
Musicians on Call was founded in 1999 and has since performed for more than 400,000 people. You can learn more about the group by visiting their official website here. Centerstage Academy was founded in 1995 and teaches performing arts to students of all ages and skill levels.
