Sanctuary will performing at Historic Jamestowne’s Memorial Church tonight in celebration of Arts Month.
Sanctuary — a 14-member choir based at St. Stephen’s Church in Richmond — will perform common 16th and 17th century English songs heard in cathedrals and manor churches. The performances will include music by William Byrd, Christopher Tye, Thomas Tallis and John Taverner in honor of Arts Month.
Additionally, watercolors of Jamestown flowers by Betty Babb and indigenous Jamestown Island plant and floral arrangements will be on display.
Performances will take place at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. Saturday. The concerts are included with paid admission to Historic Jamestowne, which encompasses admission to both Historic Jamestowne and the Yorktown Battlefield. Tickets cost $14 for adults; children 16 and under are admitted free. National Parks passes and Preservation Virginia memberships are accepted for admission, but an additional $5 fee may be charged for admittance to Historic Jamestowne.
