Williamsburg Regional Library’s Thursday Afternoon Series is going back to school—way back to 1890s Oxford in the 1941 flick “Charley’s Aunt.” Blue Talon Bistro’s summer movies are coming to an end with “Oz the Great and Powerful” closing out the series Saturday.
Arts Month
Arts Month continues this week with Tribute to American Bandstand at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Kimball Theatre. Tickets cost $15 or $10 for students. Check out the calendar for details on the performance.
From 3-6 p.m. Saturday, folk art crosses will be on display at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church.

Film and Music
This is the last weekend of summer movies presented by Blue Talon Bistro on Prince George Street. Catch “Oz the Great and Powerful” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and enjoy some free popcorn and free lollipops for the kids. Get the details in the calendar.
The Williamsburg Regional Library Thursday Afternoon Film Series is going back to school this week with “Charley’s Aunt.” The 1941 movie features an 1890s Oxford University where the world’s oldest student is seeking an education but is duped by his roommate. The Rhythms on the Riverwalk concert series picks up again for the ninth year at Riverwalk Landing in Yorktown. The series kicks off this year with the Williamsburg Classic Swing Orchestra performing from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday. If swing isn’t your style, check out the Jimmy Masters Quartet playing jazz Friday evening at the Williamsburg Library Theater. Tickets cost $16 for adults and $14 for Friends of the Williamsburg Regional Library. Students and children under 17 can purchase tickets for $8. Family Fun
Children 15 and younger can show off their reeling skills Saturday in the Kids Fishing Fanatic Tournament at York River State Park. Kids can use their own rods and reels to pull in bass, bluegill and crappie to win prizes. A limited amount of tackle and bait will be available and reservations should be made ahead of time. Colonial Court Appointed Special Advocates is hosting An Evening of Promise, a night of heavy hors d’oeuvres, wine, music and a raffle for $30 at 6 p.m. Thursday at Old Chickahominy House. If you haven’t bought at ticket yet, look for details about where to get them in the calendar.
Friday is Alzheimer’s Awareness Day at Moe’s Southwest Grill. Visit the Moe’s in Windsormeade Marketplace from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. and present a coupon, available in the calendar, to have 10 percent of your purchase donated to the Alzheimer’s Association.
