Hometown: Local Handbell Group Performs Wednesday

The Williamsburg Music Club will have special guests the Westminster Ringers performing at its Wednesday meeting, with the public welcome to attend.

The Westminster Ringers will present a program of sacred and secular music performing on five octaves of Schulmerich Handbells and Malmark Chimes. The group is the college handbell ministry of the Williamsburg Presbyterian Church, under the direction of Associate Music Director and Organist Norman Elton.

The ensemble is made up of fourteen students from the College of William and Mary who lead the Sunday worship at their church once each month.

The Williamsburg Music Club presents this program free to the community in Lewis Hall of Bruton Parish on Duke of Gloucester Street in downtown Colonial Williamsburg. The morning begins with Coffee & Conversation at 10 a.m., followed by a brief business meeting at 10:30 a.m. The program begins at 11 a.m.

The Westminster Ringers have produced a CD that features a wide variety of handbell favorites and will be available for purchase following the morning’s program.
