The Pavilion at Williamsburg Place and the Colonial Community Criminal Justice Board are hosting a panel discussion Wednesday about the popular illegal drugs “bath salts” and “spice.”
“Bath salts” is the street name for a popular drug that has dangerous side effects that include hallucinations, paranoia and violent behavior. “Spice” is the street name for synthetic marijuana, a substance that used to be a legal substance marketed as incense.
The discussion is intended to educate parents, teachers and interested citizens and help them understand growing concerns about these drugs. Panel members will talk about what these drugs are, how people get them, why they are dangerous, what the health implications are of using these substances and how to help control their use.
The event is free and will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Pavilion at Williamsburg Place Dining Hall, 5483 Mooretown Road.
