NORFOLK— The Norfolk Admirals rebranded as the Yorktown Admirals as part of the City Series Initiative on Saturday, Feb. 21.
The Norfolk Scope Arena was full of Yorktown pride as the hometown team celebrated its one-night-only rebrand to the Yorktown Admirals.
During the game, guests enjoyed performances by the York County Department of Fire and Life Safety Honor Guard, the York Poquoson Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard, The Fifes & Drums of York Town, and choral students from Tabb Middle School in the York County School Division.
Yorktown’s second takeover was announced in 2025 and is designed to be a way to bring Hampton Roads together. The series main goal is to extend the game of hockey beyond where the team is based.
During the game on Feb. 21, the Admirals faced off against the Fort Wayne Komets. The Komets struck first with two first period goals, adding one in the second and one in the third. The Admirals lone goal came in the second period.
