BALTIMORE — Lionsbridge remained unbeaten in USL League Two play with a 3-1 victory over Christos FC on a rainy Wednesday night at Under Armour Stadium.
The match was played under steady rain showers — ironic given that Christos’ home venue, Under Armour Stadium, has none.
After a scoreless first half that saw Lionsbridge miss a penalty and hit the crossbar, the Bridge broke through in the 53rd minute when Gabriel Rodriguez pounced on a goalkeeper deflection to open the scoring. Four minutes later, Constantinos Christou set up Damean Dominguez for a clinical finish to make it 2-0.
Christos FC pulled one back in the 66th minute through Oliver, but Christou sealed the victory in the 78th minute with a well-taken goal of his own to cap a standout performance. He was later named Riverside Man of the Match.
Lionsbridge also created several dangerous first-half chances, including a Louis header that hit the crossbar and a Bennett strike that missed just wide. Goalkeeper Tyler Hampshaw made a key save in the 21st minute to keep Christos off the board.
With the win, Lionsbridge FC improved to 4-0-1 overall and 3-0-1 in USL League Two play, taking sole possession of first place in the Chesapeake Division with 10 points. Christos FC dropped to 0-3, their worst start since joining the league four years ago.
Lionsbridge returns home this Saturday at Northern Virginia FC.
