WILLIAMSBURG — Registration is underway for the Williamsburg Hornets football program for the spring 2025 season.
To sign up, a child must be a particular age by July 31 of that year. The program is open to children from ages 5-14. Ages five and six play flag football, while ages seven and up play tackle football.
“Hornets Football has a rich and proud history, characterized by numerous championships and a legacy of athletes who have continued to excel at top high schools across James City County and beyond. Our former players and cheerleaders have paved the way for success, and we hope to inspire the next generation to follow in their footsteps,” said Amanda Wilbourne, media director for the Williamsburg Hornets.
According to the organization, the spring season is an introductory opportunity for those who are new to the sport or want to expand on certain skills. The shortened spring season also serves as a precursor to the fall season, which is highly competitive and offers a longer playing season.
“My son started playing in the spring season and I’m so glad he did. It really helped him learn the sport. He’s also made a great group of friends that are different from his school friends,” Wilbourne said.
The cost to sign up is $150. Registration ends on March 1. Practices begin in early March and the spring seasons run until the end of May.
